A Lesson In Blackness is a Presentation by The H.E.ART, located in NoHo’s Creative Community at MKM CULTURAL ARTS CENTER. When Founder & Creative Director Eartha Robinson was asked about her vision, she explained that she, along with her co-Creative Director, two-time Daytime Emmy Award winning Vernée Watson “wanted to put together a presentation during Black History month, using our Students & some invited Special Guests, to tell some of the Story from Black History through our Triple.Threat disciplines of Vocals, Acting & Dance. Along with the Creative Arts, this is something that is also not taught in our Schools and we wanted to recognize this by both educating and entertaining people of all ages. It allows our Students the opportunity to experience an audience and also work alongside Industry Professionals in a creative environment that will help them grow as future Artists whilst building their self-confidence and knowledge.” Along with the presentation in our wonderfully intimate Theatre, there will be refreshments out on our expansive Patio along with a general meet-&-greet which is historically a boisterous & fun affair! This will be both a fun & informative afternoon & we encourage Families along with people in the Community to come & see what we’re about. Entrance is Free, but we always welcome Donations of any size that will help towards Scholarships for some of our Students. We serve kids from ages 5-11, 12 & Up and we’re about to launch Classes for pre-professional & professional Artists that would benefit from our unique, integrated approach to the Performing Arts. We’ll see you ‘Leap Day’ . . February 29th!!
